The Key to Building Trust: Understanding the Role of Consistency

Last week, I had the pleasure of listening to my friend and sister, Adrienne (Nippy), lead a Bible study with her church, The Purpose Place. In her message, she spoke about the importance of consistency and discipline. As I navigate through each day, I've come to realize just how crucial consistency and discipline are in my life and in my interactions with others.

First and foremost, I'm a mother ... a single mother at that. Maintaining a consistent schedule and being disciplined greatly simplifies my life, especially when it comes to raising my son. Consistency, in itself, demonstrates discipline, showcasing my ability to adhere to a plan and see it through. However, the true significance of consistency and discipline didn't fully hit me until yesterday, when I was picking my son up from daycare.

As soon as he caught sight of me, he eagerly wriggled out of his teacher's arms and began crawling towards me. It was a testament to the consistency we've established in our daily routine; from waking up, getting dressed, listening to motivational audios or podcasts on the way to daycare and work, finishing the workday, picking him up, returning home, taking a breather, going for a walk, cooking, eating, and preparing for the next day. This consistent rhythm has fostered trust in our relationship, thanks to the time I invest and the discipline I exhibit.

Consistency and discipline serve as the cornerstones that sharpen not only the mind, but also the spirit and body, fostering trust in all our other relationships.
